Owner
of a beautiful vineyard based in "Les Rocherets" in Epernay, Joseph
Fliniaux began in Champagne by setting up in number 3, Saint
Victor's Street. He got vines that were cultivated under the method
called "en foule" and used to sell thousands of bottles per year.
After his death due to World War I, his son Fernand (1892-1954) created another small business to sell champagne in 1918, based in rue des poilus in Ay-Champagne.
His son, Roland Fliniaux (1912-1998) early discovered the work in vines. As he came back from Germany in 1941, he improved the dimension of his business like his father could never do. His daughter, Nadege Richard Fliniaux, born in 1941, was also involved in vine working at the age of 14. Besides her position in Roland Fliniaux S.A. firm, she created with her husband her own champagne under the name of Champagne JJ Richard & Sons, elaborated from her own vineyard in Ay. She was then nominated Chief Executive in 1965. In 1970 she saw the number of bottles sold worldwide increased to reach more than 120.000 bottles per year. Depuis Janvier 1997, installée dans les anciens celliers de son grand-père Fernand Fliniaux, elle reprend en partie la succession de son père avec la collaboration de son mari Jean-Jacques et de ses deux fils Franck et James. Since January 1997, she has been installed in Fernand Fliniaux's old cellars, and keeps on working with her husband Jean-Jacques and her two sons, Franck and James. Family Richard Fliniaux is proud to honnor their forefathers in keeping on creating their own vine, elaborated from their own vineyard in Ay Grand Cru.
